On the occasion of the World Water Day, the Geneva Institute for Water, Environment and Health (GIWEH), in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), will hold the first of GIWEH Water Series symposiums on Thursday, 26th of March 2009, 9h00-12h30 International Environment House I, Meeting room 3, devoted to Sustainable Water Use and Management: Leadership for Positive Change.

GIWEH Water Series is a cycle of symposiums aimed at bridging the gap between policy and science in water management. This symposium will follow the World Water Forum of Istanbul by stressing the need for leaders to innovate in different but interrelated dimensions of water management. The objectives are to identify patterns of effective leadership for positive change through success stories. After the presentation of topical case studies, including urban water management in Switzerland and the ChungGye waterway initiative in South Korea, participants will be able to join in an interactive discussion over a roundtable led by experts on how these changes can be achieved.

The press meeting will be followed by coffee and refreshments.
I look forward to seeing you at this press meeting.
