The recognition and development of social security as a basic human right is one of the most significant achievements of the 20th century. However, demographic evolution, changes in international and domestic labour markets, technological innovations and changing family structures in a context of economic globalization create pressures for social security to adapt.

Over 1,200 ministers, policymakers, CEOs and academics from all regions will debate these issues at the first World Social Security Forum, in Moscow (Russian Federation), 10 to 15 September 2007. Organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA), the World Social Security Forum will be a unique global platform to discuss today’s challenges and identify tomorrow’s solutions for social security.

The International Social Security Association (ISSA) is the world's leading international organization bringing together national social security administrations and agencies. As the independent voice of social security, the ISSA assists members and policymakers to face challenges and develop social security systems through platforms of cooperation and research, knowledge production and transfer and the promotion of social security at the international level. Founded in 1927, the ISSA today has nearly 370 member organizations in more than 150 countries, and has its headquarters in Geneva. Website: www.issa.int
