About the speakers:

About Internet Society, ISOC

Since 1992, Internet Society has played the role of an international organization for global coordination and cooperation in the Internet world, through the promotion and maintenance of a large range of activities focused on the development and the availability of the Internet and of all technologies associated with the World Wide Web.

Objectives of Internet Society in Switzerland (ISOC Geneva) :

the Internet Society is a worldwide organization. The aim of local representations (« chapters ») all over the world consists of being involved as much as possible in the social, economic and political circles, at the local as well as national level.

What ISOC is aiming at is to create a consensus spirit and to develop synergies of contacts in relation with the evolution of the Internet network, and with all players in this field, within civil society associations, politics or business. This will to gather together all these representative players around us, and through them, is to take influence in order to promote a coherent policy in the Internet world and on its impacts on tomorrow’s society.

The Internet Society, thanks to its coordination and consulting function, to its worldwide presence, and thanks to the fact that historically, certain ISOC members are both the creators of the Internet itself and the founders of ISOC, proves ISOC’s ability to gather and create a federative spirit. Our society’s importance is also demonstrated by the ISOC membership of the biggest telecom companies, Internet access providers, governmental organizations as well as of several companies related to the diverse fields of the Internet.
