According
to Brian E Carpenter, Grid computing, named by analogy
with the public electricity grid, is a new approach to
distributed computing that has arisen in the scientific
community, but is now moving towards business use. It is
likely to be an initial element of the future world of "e-business
on demand." This talk will cover, at a semi-technical
level, the basic ideas behind Grid computing, and how it
will be adapted for use outside the scientific community.
Dr
Foster will talk about is the LHC computing Grid
project which is the project to help create a world-wide
computing grid for the distribution and processing of
LHC data. He will talk about the overall computing model
and the challenges we face in trying to put together
this infrastructure on a global scale.
