Bailey is involved of most of the discussion and
working groups about the privacy problems. He was involved
to write a report on Echelon for APC (read
the report). He's, too, part of the project of: "The
Civil Society Internet Rights Project (CSIR)" http://www.gn.apc.org/action/csir/.
There is a risk that new Internet surveillance powers will not be effective
against terrorism or organized crime. Yet limited safeguards and democratic
oversight may not be adequate to protect the innocent and law-abiding.
Could these security measures in fact be counter productive and threaten
the freedom which they seek to protect?
Overview:
- Internet
surveillance laws, data retention and human rights: which
borders?
- Council
of Europe Cybercrime convention: how are we going to
be affected?
- Copyright
laws : how to kill creativity and research?
- Surveillance
and control: do you agree all you mouse click to be watched?
